The 23rd Annual Killen Founder’s Day 5k and 1 Mile Fun Run took place last Saturday, August 10th, and we had a wonderful turnout! So, we wanted to be sure to share all the pictures from the fun!

Come join us for the annual running community meal at Ricatoni’s in downtown Florence, AL. This is an opportunity to bring the various running groups together to have fun, socialize, and eat some good food!
The banquet is set to begin at 6:30pm, so please arrive a little early. It will be held upstairs, and the bar up there will be open before the start o the banquet. Dinner will be served buffet style with different pastas, salad, desserts, tea, and water. The cost for an adult is $13/person, and the cost for children 12 and under is $7/person. Tip and alcohol are not included in this cost, and you will be able to run a tab. Please RSVP by Sunday, July 21st so we can give a head count to Ricatoni’s the following day.
The dinner takes place during the last week of TRAC’s Cross Country Camp and also during the W.C. Handy Music Festival. We will also have a guest speaker, so stay tuned for more information.
And, the Mary Mason Band will be performing at 7:30pm at Ricatoni’s, so be sure to stick around for some great music. You can check out a listing of all the Handy Fest events at the link below.
The theme for the Killen Founder’s Day weekend coincides with this year being Alabama’s Bicentennial. The theme is “Alabama Bicentennial – Killen Founded on Family” and we will be honoring all our community businesses. The annual Dam-Bridge 10k is now scheduled for Saturday, November 17th. And, new this year is a 5k race as well! So, mark your calendars for November 17th, and check back soon for event details and online registration.

Come join us for our annual dinner banquet on Tuesday, July 24th, at 6:30pm! We’ll be celebrating at Ricatoni’s, and the Mary Mason Band will be performing during this time as part of Handy Fest.
This banquet is served buffet style with the adult cost set at $13/person, and children 12 and under are $7/person. Tip is not included with this cost.

The 14th Annual Cross Country Camp will take place beginning Monday, July 7th through Friday, July 27, 7am – 9am, Monday through Friday. We will meet at McFarland Park at Pavillion 1, Florence, AL.
Registraton fee includes camp entrance, T-shirt, cinch bag, advice from multiple local, elite runners, many knowledgeable speakers on a variety of running related subjects, FREE entry to Handy Run 5k, $12 entry to the Killen Founders Day 5k, and many awards to win!
This camp is designed for upcoming middle schoolers and high schoolers interested in running cross country this fall, however, all are welcome! The camp is directed by Laura Bennet and will be coached by local, elite area runners and volunteers from UNA’s HPER Department.
A typical day will consist of a warm up run, followed by dynamic stretches. Afterwards, groups will split up and run throughout McFarland Park and Wildwood Park trails (on Fridays). The day will conclude with a running specific cool down and a guest speaker most days of the week.
The first day of camp wil be a two mile time trial to split up the groups appropriately, so be prepared!

The 2018 Huff ‘N Puff on the Bluff 15k, now hosted by Junior League of the Shoals, will be held on Saturday, March 10th at 8am. This is a challenging, yet scenic race that takes you along the bluffs of the Tennessee River and through downtown Sheffield.

Due to the forecast of a low of 14 degrees and a zero degrees wind chill temperature this Sunday night, December 31, The Millennium Run 5K and Fun Run has been postponed until Saturday, January 6 at First Baptist Church Gym in Killen, AL.
Preregistration is 7:30-8:30 a.m., with the 5K Race starting at 9:00 a.m., and the Fun Run at 10am.
